The short-term effectiveness and safety of second-generation patellofemoral arthroplasty and total knee arthroplasty on isolated patellofemoral osteoarthritis: A systematic review and meta-analysis
Journal of Orthopaedic Surgery and Research Jun 07, 2021
Li C, Li Z, Shi L, et al. - This study sought to correlate second-generation patellofemoral arthroplasty (2G PFA) with total knee arthroplasty (TKA) in treating isolated patellofemoral osteoarthritis (PFOA) by evaluating the percentages of revisions, complications, and patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs). Researchers matched the outcomes of 2G PFA and TKA in the treatment of isolated PFOA. Researchers carried out searches of electronic databases, including MEDLINE, Embase, and Web of Science. This review enrolled a total of six studies. The study indicated that 2G PFA showed similar results to TKA with respect to the percentages of revisions, complications, and PROMs for isolated PFOA.
