The role of propionic acid at diagnosis predicts mortality in patients with severe sepsis

Weng J, et al. – Study authors analyzed the diagnostic and prognostic significance of propionic acid in patients with severe sepsis on a medical intensive care unit (ICU). Findings demonstrated that propionic acid was capable of serving as a diagnostic tool for severe sepsis patients and it provided prognostic information for 28–days mortality as well.
