The role of HCN channels in peristaltic dysfunction in human ureteral tuberculosis

International Urology and Nephrology Feb 22, 2018

He F, et al. - In this study, researchers compared the changes in hyperpolarization-activated cyclic nucleotide-gated (HCN) channel levels between normal and tuberculous ureters to determine the role of HCN channels in ureteral peristaltic dysfunction. The observed expression of 4 HCN channels in the ureter, mainly HCN4 and HCN1, suggested the involvement of HCN channels in the peristaltic contraction of ureteral interstitial cells of Cajal, which could be an important reason for peristaltic dysfunction in ureteric tuberculosis.
