The risk assessment and prediction tool is less accurate in extended length of stay patients following total joint arthroplasty
Journal of Arthroplasty Nov 16, 2018
Cizmic Z, et al. - Experts ascertained the of the Risk Assessment and Prediction Tool (RAPT) for discharge disposition in extended length of stay (ELOS) patients following total joint arthroplasty. They separated the patients into three cohorts, based on their RAPT score: low-risk (9-12), medium-risk (6-9) and high-risk for discharge to a facility (1-6). Findings suggested a better correlation of the RAPT score in ELOS patients with the low- and high-risk cohorts than in medium-risk patients. On the contrary, 56.8% of the sample size was constituted by the medium risk ELOS patients, but only 56.5% of discharge dispositions were predicted correctly.
