The ratio potassium-to-magnesium intake and high blood pressure

Guerrero-Romero F, et al. - Researchers categorized 529 healthy people into four groups: Group 1) potassium and magnesium intake within recommended dietary allowance; Group 2) magnesium intake as recommended and potassium intake below of recommended dietary allowance; Group 3) potassium intake as recommended and magnesium intake below of recommended dietary allowance and; Group 4) magnesium and potassium intake below the recommended dietary allowance. They evaluated the correlation between weight ratio of potassium-to-magnesium intake and high blood pressure. They recognized high blood pressure in 155 cases. They observed that individuals in groups 2 and 3 exhibited no association. An inverse association of the potassium-to-magnesium ratio was reported with high blood pressure was seen in healthy individuals with magnesium and potassium intake below recommended dietary allowance (Group 4).
