The randomised controlled trial of micronised progesterone and dydrogesterone (TRoMaD) for threatened miscarriage
European Journal of Obstetrics & Gynecology and Reproductive Biology Jul 30, 2018
Siew JYS, et al. - Researchers performed a comparison of clinical outcomes of miscarriage, extent of vaginal bleeding at follow-up and side effects between women presenting with threatened miscarriage receiving micronised progesterone (MP) vs dydrogesterone (DYD). Findings suggest MP vs DYD had comparable results regarding the extent of bleeding at day 4-10 and subsequent miscarriage rates. However, drowsiness and giddiness were reported by fewer patients treated with DYD. They emphasize considering significantly higher miscarriage rates in women with low progesterone levels despite treatment, in counseling and prognosticating pregnancy outcomes.
