The Pitt Bacteremia Score, Charlson Comorbidity Index and Chronic Disease Score are useful tools for the prediction of mortality in patients with Candida bloodstream infection

Mycoses Aug 29, 2017

Vaquero–Herrero MP, et al. – The usefulness of the combination of the Pitt Bacteremia Score (PBS) and Charlson Comorbidity Index (CCI) or Chronic Disease Score (CDS) were compared to speculate the mortality among patients with Candida bloodstream infection (CBI). The comorbidity (CCI and CDS) and disease severity (PBS) aggregated scores assisted in speculating the 30–day mortality risk in patients with CBI. Their use possibly enabled the analysis of risk factors for poorer outcome and the development of an index for CBI mortality.
