The impact of surgery-first approach on the oral health-related quality of life: A systematic review and meta-analysis

Huang X, et al. - In this systematic review and meta-analysis involving 122 candidates, researchers compared the impact of surgery first approach (SFA) with a conventional three-stage method (CTM) on the oral health-related quality of life (OHRQoL) of patients with severe dentofacial deformity. Included were randomized controlled trials, controlled clinical trials, and cohort studies evaluating the OHRQoL of patients who had SFA or CTM. The findings from the present study suggested that SFA can immediately and persistently contribute to better OHRQoL in patients with dentofacial deformity.
