The impact of immediate salvage surgery on corporeal length preservation in patients presenting with penile implant infections

The Journal of Urology Feb 15, 2018

Lopategui DM, et al. - The effect of salvage surgery on penile length in patients with infected implants was assessed in this trial. Data recommended that salvage surgery ought to be offered when possible to patients with an infected penile implant. It was demonstrated that the penile length was preserved by successful salvage surgery. Patients could expect to lose 15-30% of their penile length, irrespective of age, diabetes, type of infecting organism, and time until re-implantation when a device was explanted and replaced at a later date.
