The impact of diabetes mellitus and hepatitis B virus co-infection on patients with chronic hepatitis C - A territory-wide cohort study

Subramaniam S, et al. - This territory-wide cohort study aimed to examine the effect of diabetes mellitus (DM) and hepatitis B virus (HBV) co-infection on the clinical outcomes in Chinese chronic hepatitis C (CHC) patients. In Hong Kong CHC patients, HBV co-infection and DM were independent risk factors for death. Anti-viral treatment for HCV was a protective factor against death, but not HBV.
