The effect of statin use on the incidence of prostate cancer: A population-based nested case-control study
International Journal of Cancer Feb 09, 2018
Dawe DE, et al. - Pre-clinical studies suggest that statins may help prevent prostate cancer (PC). In the current investigation, the impact of statin use on PC diagnosis and clinically significant PC was investigated using data from men >= 40 years of age in the Canadian province of Saskatchewan between 1990-2010. The findings demonstrated no association between statin use and overall PC risk, regardless of duration or dose of statin exposure. Furthermore, statin use was show to be related to a decreased risk of clinically significant PC.
