The effect of crown lengthening on the outcome of endodontically treated posterior teeth: 10-year survival analysis
Journal of Endodontics Apr 23, 2019
Patil K, et al. – In this analysis, researchers assessed the impact of a crown-lengthening (CL) procedure and the crown-root ration following CL on long-term survival of endodontically treated teeth (ETT). They noted 88.6% and 82.2% to be the 5-year survival rates of ETT in the control and CL groups, respectively. The 10-year survival rates of ETT in the control vs CL groups were 74.5% vs 51%, respectively. Compared with ETT with an adequate crown-root ratio (< 1:1), the lowest survival rate (40%) was demonstrated by ETT with an insufficient crown-root ratio (1:1) after CL.
