The effect of arousal and eye gaze direction on trust evaluations of strangers faces: A potential pathway to paranoid thinking

Abbott J, et al. - Given that paranoid thinking is associated with reduced trust ratings of others, researchers investigated the effect of arousal and eye gaze direction on trust evaluations of stranger's faces. Observations revealed a complex interplay between arousal, evaluations of trustworthiness and gaze direction. Heightened arousal was observed to influence judgements of trustworthiness, but within the context of face type and gaze direction.
