The clinicopathological characteristics and prognostic value of squamous differentiation in patients with bladder urothelial carcinoma: A meta-analysis

World Journal of Urology Apr 26, 2019

Lin X, et al. - Researchers performed this meta-analysis of 19 studies including 13,284 patients to ascertain the clinicopathological traits of urothelial carcinoma with squamous differentiation (UCSD), as well as its prognostic ability in bladder cancer. Observations revealed an association between UCSD and tumor stage T3/T4, tumor grade 3, positive surgical margin, and lymph node involvement. Patients with UCSD showed higher recurrence rates following surgery. Poorer disease-free survival was noted in correlation to UCSD, however, results did not reveal any significance difference for cancer-specific survival and overall survival.
