The association between prior cesarean section and subsequent in vitro fertilization outcomes in women undergoing autologous frozen thawed single euploid embryo transfer
American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology Apr 02, 2021
Friedenthal J, Alkon-Meadows T, Hernandez-Nieto C, et al. - Researchers conducted a retrospective cohort study with the aim to examine the correlation between prior mode of delivery and subsequent pregnancy outcomes in patients undergoing frozen thawed euploid single embryo transfer after in vitro fertilization. They included a total of 525 patients in this analysis. Relative to patients in the vaginal delivery cohort, those with a prior cesarean section had higher BMI. Herein findings revealed, for the first time ever, a significant decrease in implantation and ongoing pregnancy/live birth linked with a prior cesarean section in patients undergoing a euploid embryo transfer. These findings emphasize the relevance of lowering primary cesarean section rates on a national level and examining the mechanisms linked with substantially lower implantation rates after cesarean section.
