The association between long- and intra-dialytic blood pressure variability with all-cause mortality in hemodialysis patients
Blood Purification Mar 01, 2019
Liao R, et al. - In hemodialysis (HD) patients, researchers compared the prognostic value of long-term blood pressure variability (BPV) with intra-dialytic BPV. For this retrospective cohort study, 611 HD patients were included and collected their baseline blood pressure (BP) measurements for 1 year and monitored them for 40 months. According to results, long-term systolic BPV has shown a weak correlation with mean BP, but a stronger correlation with intra-dialytic BPV. The study findings suggest that long-term systolic blood pressure (SBP) residual metric is a better predictor of all-cause mortality in HD patients, which could be used as a further target for BP management.
