The age differences of sleep disruption on mood states and memory performance

Liu X, et al. - After one night of disrupted sleep, researchers assessed the differences in mood states and memory performance between 29 younger adults and 30 older adults. Before and after sleep disruption, participants were asked to complete mood states assessments and perform memory tasks. Outcomes revealed the impaired function of older adults’ sleep-related memory consolidation and younger adults’ mood states in relation to periodic sleep disruption for one night. Specifically, sleep disruption might explain older adults’ memory decline and might lead to younger adults’ emotion disorders.
