Systematic review of medial patellofemoral ligament reconstruction techniques: Comparison of patellar bone socket and cortical surface fixation techniques
Arthroscopy Apr 23, 2019
Desai VS, et al. - Investigators examined the data to assess the patellar bone socket and cortical surface fixation techniques for isolated medial patellofemoral ligament (MPFL) reconstruction and also to determine the difference in complication rates including fracture of the patella, redislocation rates, and patient-reported outcomes. They observed a larger range of complication rates in MPFL reconstruction techniques (with patellar bone sockets) as compared to cortical fixation techniques. They found similar postoperative redislocation rates and patient outcomes in the bone socket group and the group treated with cortical fixation techniques, clinically.
