Surgical treatment of rib fracture nonunion: A single center experience

Injury Jan 25, 2018

de Jong B, et al. - This study was designed to delineate the standardized approach and report the outcome (e.g. patient satisfaction, pain and complications) after surgical treatment of a rib fracture nonunion. With a low perioperative complication rate, surgical fixation of symptomatic rib nonunion proved to be a safe and feasible procedure and might be beneficial in selected symptomatic patients in the future. In this study, the majority of patients were satisfied and a subjective decrease in the pain level was observed. However, complaints of persistent pain were also common.
