Journal of Orthopaedic Surgery and Research Mar 25, 2018
Yamada T, et al. - Authors sought to assess the prevalence and clinical characteristics of tandem spinal stenosis (TSS) in subjects with symptomatic lumbar spinal canal stenosis (LCS). The surgical outcomes for lumbar spinal canal stenosis (LCS) were not affected by radiographic co-existing cervical stenosis, however, after lumbar surgery, the neurological score was affected by the symptomatic cervical lesion. They noted that in TSS patients, neurological findings were significantly improved by performing an additional surgery for cervical lesion.
