Injury Apr 25, 2021
Zalavras CG, Yasmeh S, Bougioukli S, et al. - The present study was performed to evaluate the union rate of humeral shaft aseptic nonunions and the rate of postoperative complications following a consistent management protocol. Researchers designed a retrospective review including a total of 41 consecutive adult patients (23 female and 18 male with a mean age of 42 years) with aseptic nonunion of the humeral shaft treated by the senior author in the institution over a 17-year period. The data demonstrated that with a low complication rate and no iatrogenic radial nerve palsy, the surgical protocol achieved consistent healing of nonunion of the humeral shaft, even in long-standing nonunions in patients with comorbidities.
