Success rates of preformed metal crowns placed with the modified and standard hall technique in a pediatric dentistry setting
International Journal of Paediatric Dentistry Apr 19, 2019
Midani R, et al. - In this study, authors investigated the clinical success and survival rates of 181 preformed metal crowns placed on primary molars (using the Hall Technique in a Pediatric Dentistry Setting). They observed 10 major failures (5.5%; irreversible pulpitis or abscess), 4 with at least one minor failure (2.2%; reversible pulpitis, crown lost, or secondary caries) whereas the majority of crowns were successful (92.3%; n = 167). They reported no differences in crowns performed with no tooth preparation vs crowns performed with proximal slicing. For asymptomatic carious primary molars, they suggested HT an effective and less invasive management choice for asymptomatic carious primary molars.
