Subchondral trabecular bone integrity changes following ACL injury and reconstruction: A cohort study with a nested, matched case-control analysis
Osteoarthritis and Cartilage Mar 25, 2018
Birch CE, et al. - Experts sought to evaluate the differences in the tibial fractal signature in the medial and lateral compartments after ACL injury. Also, they described how these values change after ACL-reconstruction and return to activity. At 46 month follow-up, they noted that when compared to the contralateral healthy knee and uninjured controls, Fractal Dimension (FD) profiles were significantly different, and demonstrated an overall lower FD signature, for ACL-injured knees. Herein, the first side-to-side symmetry data of medial and lateral FD values in healthy controls was provided.
