Strongyloidiasis outside endemic areas: Long-term parasitological and clinical follow-up after ivermectin treatment

Repetto SA, et al. - Using parasitological and molecular methods for larvae or DNA detection, researchers examined ivermectin treatment response in long-term follow-up patients with chronic Strongyloides stercoralis infection. Results suggested no tendency for the parasitological cure. They recommended considering strongyloidiasis a chronic infection and re-evaluation of ivermectin administration schedules.
