Species distribution and antibiotic susceptibility profile of bacterial uropathogens among patients complaining urinary tract infections

Bitew A, et al. - In order to assess the spectrum of bacterial uropathogens and their drug resistant pattern, researchers undertook this study. Findings revealed many bacterial species causing urinary tract infection (UTI). Thus they suggested conducting a continuous epidemiological survey of UTI in health institutions across the country. There appeared a high level of drug resistance to the commonly prescribed drugs that highlighted the necessity for a search for other options.
