Spatiotemporal trends and prognosis of end-stage renal disease patients with biopsy-proven immunoglobulin A nephropathy in France from 2010 to 2014
Clinical Kidney Journal Mar 20, 2020
Robert T, Jantzen R, Cambier A, et al. - By utilizing data from French Renal Epidemiology and Information Network Registry (2010 to 2014), researchers analyzed the characteristics as well as the survival of patients (>16 years of age) with end-stage renal disease-related biopsy-confirmed immunoglobulin A nephropathy (IgAN) in France. In IgAN patients, the youngest age, the fewest comorbidities, and the highest use of peritoneal dialysis (PD) was reported. Relative to the haemodialysis group, no difference was evident in the hazard ratios for death in the preemptive transplantation group and in the PD group. Among primary and secondary glomerulonephritis, IgAN carried the best prognosis. The prognosis in IgAN patients receiving dialysis waiting transplantation appeared to be more favourable than that of autosomal-dominant polycystic kidney disease patients, who usually form the reference group.
