Somatic and psychiatric comorbidities of hidradenitis suppurativa in children and adolescents.

Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology Mar 12, 2018

Tiri H, et al. - In a nationwide cohort, experts aimed to assess both somatic and psychiatric comorbidities of hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) in young patients. One or more somatic comorbidity was noted in 34.0% of the cases compared to the 4.9% of controls. At least one psychiatric comorbidity was noted in 23.5% of HS patients and 8.7% of controls by the age of 23 years. Therefore young patients with HS ought to be monitored by the physicians for both somatic and psychiatric comorbidities.
