Socio-demographic and clinical determinants of self-care in adults with type 2 diabetes: A multicentre observational study
Acta Diabetologica Apr 17, 2018
Ausili D, et al. - This study entailed the elucidation of self-care as defined by the Middle Range Theory of Self-Care of Chronic Illness. Researchers also attempted to determine the clinical and socio-demographic determinants of a type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) cohort from 6 outpatient diabetes services in Italy. It was deduced that determinants of self-care maintenance, monitoring, management and confidence comprised of both clinical and socio-demographic variables. In order to customize interventions for improving diabetes self-care, modifiable determinants such as self-care confidence and diabetes self-care management education could prove to be useful.
