Casado PL, et al. - Data were researched to quantify smoking as a genuine risk factor for peri-implant diseases development. They conducted a comprehensive search for articles published until March 2018, on MEDLINE through PubMed database of the US National Library of Medicine. Researchers observed the impact of smoking on the healing process around implants to estimate the possible interruption of the healing process and peri-implant disease development. They reported an increase in the susceptibility to peri-implant disease due to smoking.
