Single Assessment Numeric Evaluation (SANE) correlates with American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons score and Western Ontario Rotator Cuff index in patients undergoing arthroscopic rotator cuff repair
Journal of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery Sep 27, 2019
Wickman JR, et al. - Through a retrospective review of a prospectively filled database of 333 individuals who underwent primary rotator cuff repair by a single surgeon between 2010 and 2017, experts contrasted the Single Assessment Numeric Evaluation (SANE) score with the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons (ASES) score and Western Ontario Rotator Cuff (WORC) index score in patients prior to and following primary rotator cuff repair. Of individuals in the preoperative period and the follow-up period of at least 1 year, a strong association was discovered between the SANE and ASES scores. Between the SANE and WORC scores of individuals in the preoperative period and the follow-up period of at least 1 year, a likewise strong relationship was determined. On stratification analysis, when individuals were classified by gender, age, cuff tear size, and workers' compensation status, the association of SANE scores with ASES and WORC scores was obtained. Therefore, this study explicates an important association between the SANE, ASES, and WORC scores of primary rotator cuff repair individuals in the preoperative and long-term follow-up periods. The SANE score as an adjunct to clinical outcome data was suggested which can be utilized in patients irrespective of gender, cuff tear size, or workers' compensation status.
