Sharing knowledge of falls prevention for people with dementia: Insights for community care practice
The Australian Journal of Primary Health Aug 12, 2017
Meyer C, et al. – In this study, the authors investigated knowledge of falls prevention for people living with dementia (PLWD) among community care health professionals (CCHPs) and explored the effectiveness of an action–research approach to enhance falls prevention practice. The outcomes of this study demonstrated limited knowledge and understanding of evidence–based falls prevention strategies, but small incremental changes made by CCHPs through action research offered insights into enhancing knowledge and awareness. For community care health professionals, appropriate professional development was needed to support falls prevention for PLWD, along with associated organizational changes, to ensure knowledge was adequate.
