Sex hormones are negatively associated with vertebral bone marrow fat

Mistry SD, et al. - The association of endogenous sex hormones with bone marrow fat (BMF) was explored in older men and women. In older men, an association of higher BMF with lower total estradiol and testosterone levels was observed, with a similar but statistically non-significant link reported in older women. In older adults, sex hormone levels appeared to play a role in the regulation of BMF.
