Journal of Clinical Periodontology Evidence based | Aug 11, 2017

Nepomuceno R, et al. – The current study was expected to explore whether serum lipid parameter levels were elevated in patients with periodontal disease (PD) in comparison with periodontally healthy subjects. Findings revealed that PD was significantly correlated with lowering of high–density lipoprotein (HDL) and elevation of low–density lipoprotein (LDL) and triglyceride concentrations. This analysis supported the rationale that periodontal disease was related to lipid metabolic control.
