Serum angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) has a high negative predictive value in the investigation for systemic sarcoidosis
American Journal of Ophthalmology Jul 28, 2018
Niederer RL, et al. - Researchers evaluated whether or not measurement of serum angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) was useful in diagnosing sarcoidosis in undifferentiated uveitis. The sample had a mean age of 41.7 years with 56.1% being female. For sarcoid uveitis, serum ACE had a very high non predictive value, thereby the requirement for further screening tests in subjects with normal serum ACE was eliminated, unless clinical suspicion was high.
