Sensitivity of preference-based quality-of-life measures for economic evaluations in early-stage melanoma
JAMA Dermatology Dec 05, 2017
Dieng M, et al. - A comparative scrutiny was carried out of the utility scores from the multiple-attribute instrument Assessment of Quality of Life-8-Dimension Scale (AQoL-8D) with the mapped utility scores of the Functional Assessment of Cancer Therapy–Melanoma (FACT-M). Researchers also gauged the sensitivity of both instruments in determining the impact of fear of cancer recurrence (FCR) on health-related quality of life (HRQOL). It was deduced that the AQoL-8D and FACT-M served as valid measures of utility for economic evaluations of psychological interventions in melanoma. Nonetheless, the AQoL-8D illustrated greater sensitivity to FCR Inventory (FCRI) severity. A prominent correlation was brought to the forefront between FCR and HRQOL.
