Seizure characteristics and the use of anti-epileptic drugs in children and young people with brain tumours and epileptic seizures: Analysis of regional paediatric cancer service population

Seizure - European Journal of Epilepsy Mar 27, 2018

Pilotto C, et al. - An exploration was carried out of the seizure characteristics, treatment selection or strategies to withdraw treatment with antiepileptic drugs (AED) in patients with brain tumours and epileptic seizures. Approximately 1/3rd of children and young people presenting with and being treated for brain tumours were affected by seizures, especially when a tumour was in the cerebral cortex. It was reported that the consideration of early withdrawal of AED after seizure control was justified by the low risk of recurrent seizures after AED treatment.
