Sclerostin and its association with insulin resistance in children and adolescents

Bone Jul 29, 2018

Wedrychowicz A, et al. - Authors gauged the association between sclerostin, other bone and fat-related factors as osteocalcin (OC), Receptor Activator of Nuclear Factor NF-κB ligand (RANKL), leptin and adiponectin with glucose metabolism and insulin action in children and adolescents with obesity vs healthy children and adolescents. Results demonstrated that in children and adolescents, an important role could be played by sclerostin in the regulation of glucose metabolism, regardless of other fat and bone-derived factors. In obese young patients, findings suggested a probable correlation of sclerostin with decreasing insulin resistance.
