The Journal of Hand Surgery Jun 18, 2020

Seltser A, Suh N, Chambers SB, et al. - This study was undertaken to investigate the radiographic and clinical outcomes of individuals with scaphoid malunion after acute fracture at a mean of 7 years after injury. Researchers distinguished individuals with scaphoid malunion from a departmental database of acute scaphoid fractures. Study included a sum of 22 individuals (4 females and 18 males). After injury, average age of the group was 41 years (range, 16–64 years) and average length of follow-up was 7.4 years (range, 4.4–11.8 years). It was shown that nearly half of all individuals with malunited acute scaphoid fractures indicated radiographic findings of early arthritis on CT imaging but overall good clinical outcomes on midterm follow-up.
