Safety and efficacy of uninterrupted perioperative enteral feeding in pediatric burn patients

Imeokparia F, et al. - The purpose of this study is to investigate the safety and effectiveness of uninterrupted perioperative enteral feeding in pediatric burn patients. The current study showed that the metabolic demands of burn patients are above most critically ill patients. They implemented uninterrupted perioperative feeding to meet these demands. No aspiration events were seen in this study. Continuous feeds were an effective means to achieve caloric demands and moderate catabolic injury. They exhibited safety and effectiveness of uninterrupted perioperative feeding of pediatric burn patients.
