Root coverage procedures for treating single and multiple recession-type defects: A Cochrane systematic review updated
Journal of Periodontology Aug 15, 2019
Chambrone L, Ortega MAS, Sukekava F, et al. - In the treatment of single and multiple gingival recessions (GR), researchers assessed the effectiveness of different root coverage (RC) procedures. They involved randomized controlled trials only of at least 6 months’ duration assessing Miller's Class I or II GR (≥ 3 mm) treated by means of RC procedures. According to this updated Cochrane systematic review, subepithelial connective tissue grafts (SCTG), coronally advanced flap alone or related to other biomaterials may be used for single or multiple GR treatment. There is also some proof to suggest that acellular dermal matrix grafts appear as a substitute for soft tissue that can deliver the most comparable results to those obtained by SCTG.
