Risk of chronic kidney disease in young adults with impaired glucose tolerance/impaired fasting glucose: A retrospective cohort study using electronic primary care records

Jadhakhan F, et al. - In this study, researchers focused on the risk of developing chronic kidney disease (CKD) in young adults with impaired glucose tolerance/impaired fasting glucose (IGT/IFG). They noted that young IGT/IFG subjects were highly vulnerable to develop CKD. This risk was modulated by the degree of baseline renal function and glucose tolerance, being higher in those developing type 2 diabetes.
