Risk for arterial and venous thrombosis in patients with myeloproliferative neoplasms: A population-based cohort study

Annals of Internal Medicine Jan 21, 2018

Hultcrantz M, et al. - Herein, authors attempted to discern the risk of arterial and venous thrombosis in patients with myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPNs) compared with matched control subjects. Data revealed a substantially increased rate of arterial and venous thrombosis in patients with MPNs across all age groups compared with matched control individuals. Highest rates were obtained at and shortly after diagnosis. It was also found that decreases in the rate of venous thrombosis over time possibly depicted advances in clinical management.
