Amin RM, et al. - Researchers ascertained which patient and surgical factors predict nonroutine discharge after adult spinal deformity (ASD) surgery. In this first study to evaluate pre- and perioperative factors associated with nonroutine discharge after ASD surgery they noted a particularly high risk of nonroutine discharge in elderly patients who underwent complex surgery and receive blood transfusions. These factors should be considered during surgical planning and preoperative patient counseling.
