Ring and Gellhorn pessaries used in patients with pelvic organ prolapse: A retrospective study of 8 years
Archives of Gynecology and Obstetrics Jul 12, 2018
Yang J, et al. - Factors associated with pessary fitting, continued use of pessary and satisfaction of patients with pelvic organ prolapse were ascertained. In this retrospective study, researchers selected 300 women (average age: 67.8 ± 10.7 years) with symptomatic prolapse for pessary fitting and identified more frequent fit failure among patients with obvious symptoms of posterior pelvic prolapse. Observations suggested difficulty in inserting or removing and erosions as the main factors, which lead to the discontinuation of pessary use and decrease in the satisfaction degree.
