Reoperation with total hysterectomy after incomplete surgery is helpful in patients with incidentally diagnosed uterine leiomyosarcoma
Gynecologic and Obstetric Investigation Jul 29, 2021
Zhang W, Han Z, Li Z, et al. - Researchers investigated how initial surgical treatments and surgical re-exploration affect the oncological outcomes of patients with incidentally diagnosed uterine leiomyosarcoma (uLMS). In this retrospective analysis, 87 patients undergoing re-exploration for incidentally diagnosed uLMS were assessed [median age (range) at diagnosis: 49 (23–76) years]. The median disease-free survival (DFS) was 15.1 months and overall survival (OS) was 56.7 months. Outcomes suggest reoperation with total hysterectomy after incomplete surgery as possibly helpful for cases with incidentally diagnosed uLMS at the first treatment.
