Renal dysfunction and long-term clinical outcomes in patients with venous thromboembolism: From the COMMAND VTE Registry

Thrombosis Research Jan 16, 2020

Tsuyuki Y, Yamashita Y, Morimoto T, et al. - Investigators sought to evaluate the relationship between estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) at diagnosis and long-term clinical outcomes in venous thromboembolism (VTE) individuals. The COMMAND VTE Registry was a multicenter registry involving consecutive people with acute symptomatic VTE among 29 centers in Japan between January 2010 and August 2014. For recurrent VTE, the low eGFR group was independently correlated with the increased risk. It was found that eGFR was correlated with an increased risk for repeated VTE and measure renal dysfunction, which was more noticeable in severe renal dysfunction. Moreover, for major bleeding, severe renal dysfunction was also correlated with a greater risk.
