Renal denervation improves 24-hour central and peripheral blood pressures, arterial stiffness, and peripheral resistance

The Journal of Clinical Hypertension Feb 01, 2018

Ott C, et al. - Ambulatory blood pressure (BP) and central BP are better predictors of overall cardiovascular risk and mortality than brachial BP. Given renal denervation (RDN) reduces office brachial and central BP as well as brachial ambulatory BP, data on central ambulatory BP are limited. In this present investigation, it was demonstrated that RDN improved brachial and central ambulatory BP, arterial stiffness, and total vascular resistance in patients with treatment resistant hypertension, indicating an improvement of cardiovascular outcome.
