Parikh CR, et al. – A multicenter prospective cohort study entailed an investigation of the relative contributions of urine kidney injury biomarkers and plasma cardiac injury biomarkers in adverse events. Rather than an independent renal pathway for long–term adverse cardiovascular (CV) outcomes, clinical acute kidney injury (AKI) at the time of cardiac surgery was indicative of concurrent CV stress.
