Red blood cell distribution width is associated with mortality in elderly patients with sepsis

Wang AY, et al. - This study was planned to assess the prognostic value of RDW in sepsis among elderly patients. Findings established that in elderly patients with sepsis, RDW was an independent predictor of in-hospital mortality. Higher RDW levels seemed correlated with poor prognosis for qSOFA scores <2. RDW could be a potential parameter used alongside the clinical prediction rules.
