Red blood cell distribution width: A potential laboratory parameter for monitoring inflammation in rheumatoid arthritis

He Y, et al. - This trial ascertained if red blood cell distribution width (RDW) could serve as a potential parameter for indicating inflammation in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) patients. The data shed light on the positive link between RDW level with tumor necrosis factor α (TNF-α) and interleukin (IL)-6. Nonetheless, it was negatively related to IL-10. A rise was noted in RDW, in patients with RA which was related to the inflammation in RA. This data indicated that RDW could serve as a potential auxiliary marker for the observed inflammation process in RA conveniently.
